Let Down

You know what the best part of Thanksgiving is? (for me anyway...) Family. What a wonderful thing. It's a shame we only get together like this once or twice a year. Family is cool. I had a great Thanksgiving and I hope you did.

Now on to business...

Ended the week with 295 lbs x 5 on the deadlift. Started the week with 285 lbs. May have to change the plan a bit. A few weeks ago I bent over to pick up some fire hose and felt a sharp pain in my butt, hip and hamstring. Thought not too much about it, however i'm thinking more about it lately as it is bothering the crap out of me. I can no longer sit in a chair for long periods of time. That's a good thing, right? Anyway, Dead lifts are starting to get uncomfortable; atleast some of the time. Can't be a good thing though... So maybe, if I've learned anything from the past and I can learn not to be so stubborn, I should change away from dead lifts or anything else that causes pain. That's right, no more sitting in chairs either.

So, what to do? I should avoid pain. I love my kbells. So far it seems they don't cause any pain; certainly not as much as riding in a car does. Maybe my kbells love me too!
We'll see. I am/was enjoying deads. Although, they don't always hurt.......

Have a good one.

Tim,
Get up or over or whatever to see Geoff and have him check your DL form - until then focus on Z and light KB work.
Take the warning signs for what they are and just focus on feeling good.

Thanks Brett. I know you're right. I hope to meet w/ Geoff soon. I did Z and light kb work this morning. Felt good. It's one thing to learn and another thing to apply. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

man deadlifts are a great exercise til they aren't! not much room for error with them and when you make a mistake( subtle shifting uneven tension, etc) you sometimes dont know it til after you are done.
and nothing is more irritating than back injuries.
they make you appreciate the basics of life very quickly.I agree with brett, get geoff to eval your form on the deadlift as well as help you unscrew yourself with Z.

good luck

Thanks Rif,
Don't know if the Deads caused my issue, but i do know they have not helped it. I will learn to quit being so stupidly stubborn.
Nothing but Z for me this week. I'm going to learn how to lay low or else.

I have the same issues when I go heavy on DLs. I think that's what started giving me a pain in my left glute...messes up my balance on that side doing pistols. I have learned that anything over 45lbs for me is terror for a few days. (I know, so light!!!). So I mostly stick with one leggers and go light.

Doing excellent. We are moving Friday next week. Can't wait. Stress is gone, Just excited now. How is your back feeling now after some rest?

Shawn, the back feels good. Always has. It's my bum that hurts. I'm thinking my glutes have been abused.

When is the house warming party?
